October Mornings

Against a blood-orange sky,
Silohuetting distant peaks.
Drowsy Sierras rise and shine,
Shaking night from their summits.

Valley-bound,
But with each new day,
A glimpse of mysterious mountains,
Hulking,
Vast,
A child's idealized mountain range,
Painted with Halloween's pallette,
Everything appropriately October.
